NON-SURGICAL TREATMENTS (SKIN)

Botox units for face
Botulinum toxin:  Botulinum toxin A injection is an office procedure to treat wrinkles on face and neck. It has no downtime and patient can soon return to work.

What is Botulinum toxin A?
Botulinum toxin A is derived from certain bacteria which inhibits nerve impulses at the nerve-muscle junction. When injected into the muscles responsible for wrinkles, it leads to weakening of these muscles and improvement in the appearance of wrinkles.

When are the results of Botulinum toxin injection visible?
The results are visible from two to three days and take up to two weeks to take full action. The benefits last for nearly six months or more.

How does one undergo Botulinum toxin injection?
The procedure follows a consultation.
1. Consultation: During the consultation we are able to assess your goals. You should be prepared to reveal details of illness and medications. We would be able to guide you about the treatment options and risks. Sometimes the use of fillers may be suggested for a better outcome.
2. Procedure: Botulinum injection is a nonsurgical office procedure without any downtime. The procedure may take approximately fifteen minutes to perform. You should not rub the injected area to prevent it from spreading. The full action may take approximately two weeks.

Can it be combined with filler injection?
Yes. It is sometimes combined with filler injections for treatment of deep furrows.

What are the areas commonly treated with Botulinum toxin injection?
These include forehead wrinkles, frown lines, crow's feet around eyes and neck bands.

What is the cost of Botulinum toxin injection?
It is a sum of the cost of the medication, surgeon fees, and surgical facility charges.

Fillers:  With aging we tend to lose subcutaneous fat under our skin. This results in loss of volume and is associated with an increase in wrinkles. Fillers are substances which improve the volume and improve the appearance of wrinkles. At Amicus Clinic, we use derivatives of hyaluronic acid as fillers.

What are the benefits of fillers?
They are useful for,
  1. Enhancement of shallow contours.
  2. Plumping of thin lips
  3. Reducing wrinkles ( especially in area between the brows and vertical wrinkles of lips)
  4. Improvement of depressed scars

Who is a good candidate for filler injection?
A good candidate would have reasonable expectations about the procedure. The effects of dermal filler injections last approximately one year.

What are the steps to undergo a dermal filler injection?
A consultation helps a patient to understand  treatment outcomes and risks of the procedure. The area to be treated with filler is marked and the site is cleaned with an antiseptic. Anesthesia is obtained with topical creams or injection. The sites are injected with fillers which take less than 30 minutes. Cold compresses are applied for comfort. The injected sites should not be rubbed immediately afterward.

What is the recovery after filler injection?
Some individuals have temporary swelling and bruising. These usually resolve without any specific treatment.
Patients can return to work soon after the procedure.
